Children & Young Adult

If you write for children of all ages or for Young Adults, this page is for you and your special talent.

Aquila

We would prefer stories and features that have not previously been published or made available in Great Britain.  All stories and features need to be of interest to girls and boys between 8 and 12 years

Boys' Quest

We appreciate your interest in our magazine. Each of our issues is based on a theme. Therefore, your submitted content should relate to one of the upcoming themes.

The Caterpillar

Unfortunately, we cannot accept submissions from children, but only from adults writing for children. If you are submitting poetry, then please send no more than six poems, and please send them in one Word attachment, if possible, to editor@thecaterpillarmagazine.com. Short stories should preferably be no longer than 1,500 words.

Cricket media

CRICKET Media is home to 9 different children's magazines that is looking for a wide variety of stories, fiction, and nonfiction, for ages 3 months to 14 years old.

Ember

Ember is a journal of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction for all age groups; however, submissions for and by readers aged 10 to 18 are strongly encouraged. Please ensure you correctly state your age on the submission form so we can keep an accurate track of the submissions by young writers.

Highlights

Highlights is a general-interest magazine for children ages 6-12. By publishing stories, puzzles, articles, and activities that are fun and engaging, we aim to inspire kids to be their best selves–creative, curious, caring, and confident. Highlights was founded in 1946 by Dr. Garry Cleveland Myers and Caroline Clark Myers, and is still owned and run by their family.

Little Thoughts Press

Little Thoughts Press publishes stories, poetry, and artwork for young readers ages ten and under. All submitted material should be aimed at this audience. While writing for children does not need to be explicitly childlike in style and can address complex emotions and experiences, any work featuring adult themes and language will not be accepted.

Scout Life

NONFICTION. Major articles run 500 to 1,200 words; payment is $500 to $1,200. Subject matter is broad. We cover everything from professional sports to American history to how to pack a canoe. FICTION is by assignment only.

Smarty Pants Magazine

Stories should be kid-friendly, free of violence, and “questionable” content. Fun, humorous, and clever work is always appreciated.

Stone Soup

Accepts fiction, poetry, and artwork for and by kids ages under 13 years old.

U.S. Kids Magazines

U.S. Kids has two magazines, Humpty Dumpty and Jack & Jill, that wants fiction, nonfiction, arts & crafts projects, and photos for children from ages 2 to 12 years old.

Voyage: A Young Adult Literary Magazine

Young Adult Fiction and Nonfiction

Young Dragons

Little Dragons publishes creative, socially conscious, educational, and humorous fiction and non-fiction titles for children of all ages. We are actively seeking picture books and chapter books, fiction and non-fiction, as well as middle grade (MG) books, fiction, and non-fiction. Series are desired for chapter books and middle-grade books. Series allows the readers to follow and develop a relationship with the characters.

Zizzle

At Zizzle we look for stories that will surprise, move, and amuse both young and older imaginative minds. We like fiction that dives deep into meaning and resists banality. We believe the moral, if any, of a great story should evolve naturally and not be imposed.
